Biography

Frederic Malherbe is an Associate Professor of Economics and Finance at University College London. Prior to joining UCL, he was with London Business School where he taught economics in many programmes (MBA, Executive MBA, Global Executive MBA, and PhD).

 

His main research interests are in financial economics, macroeconomics, and political economy. He has published papers in prestigious academic outlets such as the Journal of Finance and the Journal of Political Economy. In recent work, he has focused on issues related to bank capital requirements and on the risks associated with banks’ involvement in the leveraged loan market. In 2013 he was awarded the Baron Lamfalussy Fellowship for his work on macro-prudential regulation.

 

He has founded the London Financial Intermediation Theory Workshops and the EuroFIT Network, both UCL-based research networks that promote research on Financial Intermediation Theory. He also is Research Affiliate at the CEPR, a Research Fellow at UCL’s Centre for Finance, and a member of the Academic Advisory Group of the Bank of England’s One Bank Research Steering Committee.
