Lecture: India and China's Cross-Cultural Influences, Opportunities and Challenges
Apr 26-2019
The two civilizations of China and India have been in exchanges for thousands of years. While China is on way to becoming the largest market in the world, India's magnetic draw has also risen significantly, seeing the arrival of many top Western companies as well as Chinese ones such as Alibaba and Xiaomi. According to CBinsights, India was home to 20 unicorns as of early 2019, making it one of the top five unicorn-intensive countries. On April 26th, Dr. Shailendra Raj Mehta will give a speech at PKU Cross-Cultural Leadership Forum to compare and contrast China and India in such areas as culture, economy and management, and present the opportunities and challenges for Chinese entrepreneurs eyeing the India market. He is invited by Prof. John Yang, Co-Dean of BiMBA Business School, who will comment on Dr. Mehta’s speech.
Dean and Board Director of India’s MICA Business School, Dr. Mehta teaches innovation and entrepreneurship and is widely recognized as a top expert in Indian studies. Previously he taught economy and strategic management at Purdue University for 16 years and co-founded high-tech firm Simulex Inc. He returned to India in 2006 to take charge of the partnership between Duke University and IIM.
