About the National School of Development

With economics at its core, the NSD is a multi-disciplinary and comprehensive institute at Peking University. It’s formerly known as China Center for Economic Research, founded in 1994 by six doctors in economics, including Prof. Justin Lin Yifu, who had all returned from overseas studies. The subsequent years saw the joining of more scholars and further development in research and pedagogy, and in 2008 it was re-named the National School of Development.

The NSD prides itself on a strong faculty consisting of leading Chinese scholars in economics, management, political science, educational economics and demography, among others. Adhering to the PKU’s spirit of all-inclusiveness and harmony in diversity, the NSD spares no efforts to contribute to China’s advancement by being highly focused on China’s practical issues and committed to the fusion of academics and reality. In the course of over 20 years, the NSD has grown into a comprehensive institute with three major branches: pedagogy, research, and think-tank, and is an integral part of PKU in its efforts to develop into a world-leading university.

MBA Programs at the NSD

BiMBA Business School at the NSD is the bellwether of business education in China. Founded in 1998 and operated by the NSD, BiMBA harnesses world-class business education resources while staying true to the humanity care of PKU. This is where east meets west and knowledge meets actions. As a forerunner and leader in Sino-foreign cooperative educational programs, BiMBA now offers two international MBA programs: PKU-UCL MBA and PKU-Vlerick MBA, both of which begin a new academic year every autumn.
