About professor
John Yang is NSD Professor of Management, Special Advisor to BiMBA Business School at the NSD, and Academic Director of its DPS program. Prof. Yang focuses his research on organizational behavior and international leadership. By linking western management theories and methodologies with new phenomena and issues in China, he has studied the China strategy of multinational companies and the international drive of Chinese firms, which in turn has given rise to the publication of over ten papers in international management journals. He also pens for cross-culture management and leadership columns of major Chinese business magazines.
Pedagogically, Prof. Yang’s course Leader’s Self-Cognition and Leadership has been constantly ranked by students as ‘the most beneficial course,’ ‘the most inspiring course,’ and ‘the most practical course.’ In addition, Prof. Yang takes full charge of the NSD’s study tour program and has led students to visit over 20 countries and regions, where they meticulously studied the countries’ history, cultures, political institutions, social organizations, and economies and finance, and reflected on the underlying logic of their ups and downs in a bid to offer inspirations and lessons for Chinese companies and society at large.
