Chengze Career Lecture: Seeking Our Proactive Life

A great number of companies and individuals are grappling with the uncertainties triggered by the pandemic and the economic downturn. A new normal seems to have taken grip of the workplace in which ‘involution’ and ‘lying flat’ swirl amid stress, confusion, and even loss of direction.

 

How to find meaning and joy in work? How to rise above the much-feared career crisis when one gets to 35 years old? What can be done to circumvent pitfalls when moving to new jobs? In what ways can self-value and self-competitiveness be unlocked amid tectonic shifts in industries and external environments? What new skills are indispensable for the workplace in the digital age? How to take the first steps in launching a startup?...

 

To help professionals ‘own’ the workplace and grow more mature, the MBA Forum is launching Cheng Ze Career, a series of seminars featuring talks and lectures by outstanding alumni of the NSD. We hope that it will not only add to the career munitions of our MBA students and alumni but also benefit young people at large – in line with the social significance and value embedded in the pursuits of the MBA programs at the NSD.

About Speaker

Mr. Cheng Jin, CFO of Canaan Inc. (Nasdaq: CAN), former Vice President of zhaopin.com (a leading recruitment platform), founding member of Caineng Academy (for financial professionals), 2012 NSD part-time MBA, Career Mentor of MBA programs at NSD, FCMA and CGMA of CIMA, FIPA of IPA.

 

For over 20 years Mr. Cheng has worked for foreign-invested and private enterprises. Prior to being Vice President of zhaopin.com, a private firm, he had worked for four Fortune 500 corporations: Lenovo, Nokia, Mars, and Johnson & Johnson. He has a wealth of experience in financial control, planning, and budget management for sales and marketing, covering the planning and execution of sales and finance, internal control and compliance management, and return analysis on investments and fees. He also has hands-on experience with financial control of legal entities and government affairs. His years as CFO have added significantly to a slew of practical abilities such as strategic execution, group operation, company-wide business and finance integration, resource allocation, and equity and debt financing, among others.

 

On the strength of his outstanding performance in business and finance integration, he was awarded 2018 China Top CFO by a magazine affiliated with the Ministry of Finance. At zhaopin.com, he won the top prize of the company – Best Management Award – in 2017, and led his team onto the podium for CEO Special Award for Excellent Team in 2018. He also headed award-winning teams at Nokia and Lenovo.
