About Lecturer

Dr. Xie Xuanli is currently PKU Bo Ya Young Scholar, Associate Research Fellow with the NSD and Senior Research Fellow with the Institute of Digital Finance at PKU. She received her Ph.D. in Strategic Management from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, following bachelor’s and master’s degrees in Business Management from Peking University.

 

Her research focuses on innovation and startups, digital transformation, overseas development, and corporate governance. She has undertaken a series of important research topics for the National Natural Science Foundation of China, the Ministry of Education, and All-China Federation of Industry and Commerce, among others. Her papers have been published in leading domestic and international journals such as Strategic Management Journal, Organization Science, Journal of International Business Studies, Journal of Management, Strategic Entrepreneurship Journal, Management World, and Nankai Management Review, among others. She has presided over a number of top think-tank research projects such as Digital Transformation of China’s Commercial Banks, Digitalization of Government Administration, Report on Industries Facilitating People’s Daily Payments, and New Economy and Gender Equality.

 

Dr. Xie teaches such courses as Management of Startups and Strategic Management to MBA, undergraduate and graduate students. She has invited dozens of entrepreneurs and investors into her classroom to share their experiences and insights; meanwhile, she has led students to visit leading companies and platforms such as United Family Hospital, Sinovation Ventures, and Di Di Chuxing, where she has delivered onsite lectures. She has conducted in-depth interviews and case studies of a wealth of enterprises and published a series of books. One of her case studies, Pod Inn – Discovering the Blue Sea in Hotel Industry, has been collected into ChineseCases.org.

Mr. Gao Song

2014 PKU-Vlerick full-time MBA, CEO of XINMEAT, a world-leading plant protein firm. Mr. Gao has ample experiences in branding and marketing, as well as healthy food-related work. He has acquired practical experiences by working for large industrial groups, listed companies, and startups. In 2020 he co-founded XINMEAT and received the funding from top investment firms such as Matrix Partners China and Haier Capital. XINMEAT has been involved in drafting and leading national standards in relevant fields and is committed to providing consumers with new choices of healthy ‘meat’.

 

Mr. Gao Maoxiang

Mr. Gao started his Master’s studies at PKU Guanghua School of Management in 2014. He is a serial entrepreneur. After working for international consulting companies and investment banks, he has been dedicating himself to the pet industry for eight years. He has solid knowledge of industry trends, policies, and regulations both in China and around the world, and possesses abundant resources in the pet industry and new consumption industry. He is founder of MentaPets and has launched a branded course for pet lovers and a charity project. In addition, he’s a member of Chinese and Asian pet associations.

 

Mr. Gong Guangyao

PKU-UCL part-time MBA, founder of May and currently its CEO and tech chief. Mr. Gong has worked for over ten years in online gaming, social media and entertainment, and focused on leading teams to develop practical applications of AI, big data, Blockchain, and network security. In his previous tech management roles as Holla Group CTO and Funplus Chief Data Scientist, he created excellent product experience for tens of millions of users, which generated revenues of several billion yuan. In 2020, he launched a startup with MBA classmates which aims to build leading products for virtual space interactions and AI applications.

 

Ms. Hu Yumeng

2013 PKU-Vlerick part-time MBA. Ms. Hu was a founding member of Dark Horse, a service provider for startups, and worked as its reporter; in addition, she used to be the Editor-in-Chief of a CCTV program on startup entrepreneurs. Now an investor, she focuses on equity strategy products.
