About Professor

Zhao Bo, NSD Associate Professor of Economics and doctoral tutor. Prof. Zhao graduated from the University of Oslo, Norway, in 2012. He was a visiting scholar at the research department of the Federal Reserve Minnesota, the University of Minnesota, and Australia’s Monash University. Prof. Zhao mainly focuses on macro-economics, economic growth, labor economics, and real estate economics. His papers have been published by leading international journals such as Review of Economic Dynamics, Journal of Economic Dynamics and Control, and Economic Theory, as well as Chinese ones like China Economic Quarterly and Journal of Financial Research.

Prof. Zhao has presided over projects of the National Natural Science Foundation and participated in a number of policy research projects of national think-tanks. He was awarded for his research by the Ministry of Education and for his teaching excellence by Peking University. He was also commended as PKU CIBC Excellent Scholar in Economics. Currently Prof. Zhao is Deputy Editor-in-chief of China Economic Quarterly and executive member of the computing economics branch of China Computer Federation.

 

About Guest Speakers

Angelene, Bachelor and Master from Medill School of Journalism, Northwestern University, the USA. Ms. Angelene is founder of an advertising agency, social media influencer, and bilingual trendy host. Her previous experiences included being Senior Manager of a well-known e-commerce company in New York and Shanghai and Business Director of an advertising company. She was awarded 2021 LinkedIn China Workplace Woman.

 

Chen Jingwen, Bachelor from the University of Bristol, Master from the Management Department of Fudan University, ICAS certified practicing accountant, member of China M&A Association, and partner of Zhitong Shanghai Transaction Consulting. Mr. Chen has over 20 years’ professional experience, including 18 years delivering services in M&A transaction consulting and identifying M&A opportunities in China and abroad. His consulting services consist of management buyout, corporate M&A, equity transfer, capital restructuring, and public listings of Chinese firms in Europe, the USA, and Hong Kong.

 

Cheng Dachen, Ph.D. in Medicinal Chemistry from the University of Bristol, the UK. Upon graduating from the doctoral program, he joined AstraZeneca. In 2021, he started to work for Novartis China Institutes. In 2019, he left Novartis and co-founded CommBio Theraputics, which is committed to new drug development for genetic treatment.

 

Liu Tao, 2020 PKU-UCL part-time MBA, Bachelor in Communication Engineering and Master in Public Administration from Tongji University, and Master in Public Policy from the National University of Singapore. Currently Mr. Liu is Senior Public Policy Director of Amazon China, responsible for relevant policy work in cross-border e-commerce, logistics and operation, and smart hardware. Previously he worked for China Customs and Shanghai Municipal People’s Government in areas concerning electronic ports, trade facilitation, and foreign affairs. Before joining Amazon, he was Public and Government Affairs Director of Huawei’s overseas arm, with posts in Singapore, the Philippines, and Thailand for many years.

 

Xie Qiao, Dual Master in Marketing and International Trade from the University of Sydney, secretary general and co-founder of the Shanghai Alumni Association of the University of Sydney. Ms. Xie has garnered ten plus years’ experience in branding and consumer insight, with previous stints with Millward Brown and Interbrand. Currently she is co-founder of Uptoma, a branding strategy consulting studio, and provides branding strategy and consumer insight services to a number of publicly listed companies.
