Forum in Suzhou: Get Powered up on Macro-Economy and Overseas Business Development

Amid economic slowdown, each and every industry is working to explore a fresh path, and securing overseas business is becoming a new way to coping with uncertainties.

With that arise a clutch of questions: In what direction will the macro policy move? How will finance impact on the real economy? What opportunities and challenges will Chinese firms face in their overseas undertakings? And how should they act? Whiling building overseas presence, how can firms leverage cross-cultural leadership to achieve localized assimilation?

At the NSD forum in Suzhou on June 1, Prof. Huang Yiping and Mr. Zhuang Yan will speak on the macro-economy and overseas business development. Prof. Huang is PKU Boya Distinguished Professor, Dean of the NSD, and Director of PKU Institute of Digital Finance (IDF). Mr. Zhuang is President and Managing Director of CSI Solar. The event is part of a series of activities celebrating the NSD’s 30th anniversary.

About speakers

Huang Yiping, PKU Boya Distinguished Professor, Dean of the NSD, and Director of PKU Institute of Digital Finance. Prof. Huang was appointed to the Monetary Policy Commission of the People’s Bank of China in March 2024 (his previous tenure at the Commission ran from 2015 to 2018). In addition, he is Vice Secretary General of China Society for Finance and Banking, Director of the Fintech Development and Research Committee of National Internet Finance Association of China (NIFA), member of China Finance 40 Forum, member of Chinese Economy 50 Forum, Editor-in-Chief of China Economic Journal, and Deputy Editor-in-Chief of Asian Economic Policy Review. Prof. Huang focuses his research interests on macroeconomy and financial policy. Previously he was Associate Researcher of the State Council’s Rural Development Research Center, Senior Lecturer of the Australian National University, Visiting Professor of Columbia Business School, Managing Director and Asia-Pacific Chief Economist of Citibank, Managing Director and Asia Emerging Markets Chief Economist of Barclays, member of the External Consulting Team on Supervisory Affairs of the International Monetary Fund, and Researcher of the Finance Research Center of the Counsellors’ Office of the State Council. He received his Ph.D. in Economics from the Australian National University, Master’s in Economics from Renmin University of China, and Bachelor’s in Agricultural Economics from Zhejiang Agricultural University (now part of Zhejiang University).

Zhuang Yan, President and Managing Director of CSI Solar, a global leader in solar energy and energy storage solutions. Mr. Zhuang is the chief planner and implementor of CSI Solar’s international endeavors, and plays a key role in its global branding, channel construction, and business development.
