The NSD Team Triumphs in the Tengger Desert Challenge
May 11-2026

From May 2nd to 4th, 2026, the 15th Business School Desert Challenge (referred to as "Sha 15") concluded successfully in the Tengger Desert. In this ultimate showdown among top - tier business schools, the Sha 15 team from the National School of Development (NSD), Peking University, following their glorious achievements in Sha 14, where they won the Golden Sand Gull Award and claimed both championships in the Super A group, once again assembled and set out with the original aspirations of inheritance, unity, and self - transcendence, continuing NSD's glorious history in the desert challenge.
Glorious Moments: NSD's Continued Success
In the Sha 15 journey, the NSD team lived up to expectations. They not only firmly secured the event's highest honor, the Golden Sand Gull Award, but also achieved remarkable results in individual awards. From Sha 14 to Sha 15, while the achievements kept being refreshed, the NSD members' pursuit of excellence remained unchanged.
- Super A Group: Gu Bing and Quan Changhe, the "Ice - River Duo", won the championship with their absolute strength, achieving a three - peat and turning the impossible into reality.
- C + Group Men: Sasha Bonnier left the competition far behind and bravely won the championship, demonstrating NSD's strong international capabilities.
- C Group Women: Team leader Yang Xinhong, as capable as her male counterparts, won the fifth place.
Diverse Team: The Inheriting Power of Teachers and Students
The Sha 15 team is a diverse and robust group of 55 members. Besides MBA, EMBA alumni and current students, teachers and students from the South - South Institute, faculty members of the school, and their relatives and friends also joined, fully demonstrating NSD's openness, diversity, and international characteristics. What excited the whole team was that Professor Huang Yiping, the dean of NSD, and Professor He Fan from the Antai College of Economics and Management, Shanghai Jiao Tong University, formed the "Huang - He (River) Duo" and joined Team C, successfully completing the race. The two scholars' actions greatly inspired and empowered the entire team! Associate Professor Wang Min (tenured) of NSD, as a "rabbit" in Team B, led the female Team A members through slopes and sprints throughout the race. With her steps and sweat, she demonstrated another side of NSD's teachers - not only as educators in the classroom but also as mentors in the desert challenge. Meanwhile, four school teachers, Yu Bin, Zhang Junjie, Shen Chengling, and Jiang Shaoxiang, built a logistical stronghold. Together with other Team C members, they provided all - around support to the Team A and Team B members who were charging ahead. From the front - line sprints to the rear - guard protection, we perfectly interpreted the spirit of "starting together and arriving together".
Beyond Competition: Redefining Meaning in the Sandstorm
Competition is not just about winning or losing; self - transcendence holds greater significance. Just as Professor He Fan said during his second participation in the Asia Desert Challenge, in Sha 15, we focused more on growth than rankings. Continuing the public - welfare spirit initiated by NSD during Sha 12, the "Plastic - Reduction without Speed - Reduction" public - welfare project, led by Li Hua and Kou Renhua, once again became a highlight of the event. It received extensive support and recognition from the event organizing committee and numerous participating teams. We raced forward while protecting the desert, making our dream - chasing journey also environmentally friendly. In the Sha 14 journey, we faced sandstorms, 40 - degree Celsius heat, and heavy rain. In Sha 15, we still held fast to our beliefs in the sandstorm and gathered strength through cooperation. We not only strived for honors but also enjoyed the process and embraced every breakthrough. The Tengger Desert witnessed many touching moments: from the warmth of Dean Huang Yiping leading the welcoming team when returning from Sha 14 to the enthusiasm of teachers and students crossing the finish line together in Sha 15. With light in our hearts and strength in our steps, we left NSD's tenacity and warmth deep in this magnificent desert!
All team members have safely returned to Beijing and received a warm welcome from desert and Gobi challenge friends.
Congratulations to the NSD Sha 15 team! We look forward to every NSD member continuing the spirit of the competition, not only achieving glory in the desert but also shining in their studies and careers. See you in the Tengger Desert at Sha 16 next year!
