Dear Mr. Ambassador,Mr. Dean of Vlerick Leuven Gent Management School(Philippe Haspeslagh),Dear Professors, Dear BiMBA Part-time 08 students, ladies and gentlemen,

On behalf of Peking University, I’m pleased to extend a warm welcome to everyone to this Opening Ceremony. Founded 110 years ago, Peking University has powerhoused generations of renowned masters, influential figures and talented scholars. Their hardwork and achievements have made unforgettable contributions to China’s fast development. Peking University has been playing an important role by offering first-class research, teaching and consulting on China’s development.

I’d also like to congratulate you on your being admitted by BiMBA. You will be extremely busy, working full time on weekdays and studying on the weekends. However, with the excellent faculty team and wonderful learning environment at BiMBA, you’ll be proud of your decision.

This is an unusual event with historical meaning today. It is not only your new starting point but also a milestone for CCER and BiMBA. 2008 is an important year to us as it is the 10th anniversary of BiMBA and is the first year of the new cooperation between Peking University and Vlerick Leuven Gent Management School. I, myself has witnessed the success of BiMBA over the past 10 years and would hope to see a new era of BiMBA with the new cooperation between Peking University and Vlerick. You are lucky to become the first students under this new partnership.

I would like to take this opportunity to congratulate CCER and Vlerick on the brand new cooperation on behalf of Peking University.

We’ve just gone through two major successful events: the 110th anniversary of Peking University and Beijing Olympics. In the last 110 years, PKUers have been following the tradition of Peking University ---“Patriotism, Advancement, Democracy and Science” and the learning spirit of Peking University --- “hardworking, preciseness, practicality, creativity” and have made a lot of achievements in various areas. I hope that all of you could still follow the PKU learning spirit, be fully committed to your MBA study, be socially responsible and become future business leaders in various industries all over the world.

Today you are proud of Peking University and I’m sure tomorrow Peking University will be proud of you!
