Platform for Knowledge Pool of BiMBA Classmates
Starting Point for Sharing among China Top MBA Schools

“1+1 > 2” Lecture Sharing Program, initiated and organized by Beijing International MBA (“BiMBA”) 2009 Part-time Class Committee, has held to two lecture events in first quarter of 2010. The two lectures were both offered by 2009 Part-time MBA students, David Ren and Alex Chan, on January 30 and March 21 respectively. As an expansion of the program, David was also invited to present and share his experience in marketing in Cheung Kong Graduate School of Business.
Program Kick-off - Marketing Knowledge Sharing by David
David Ren is currently working with Sony Ericsson as the Head of Global Application Planning & Management in Beijing Site. In Sony Ericsson, he also served as the Head of Global Product Planning and management, Global Product Planning Manager and Global product manager, which has provide him the platform to enrich his knowledge in marketing longitudinally and latitudinally – from a idea to concrete product, from product to business cases, from the poorest Kashmir and the Buddha Bar in Paris. Previously, he was with Dell as Regional Product Marketing Manager, Business Development Manager and Product Manager.
On January 30, the end of ’09-’10 semester, the attendees including part-time and full-time BiMBA MBA students and guests from other business schools, came to Lang Run Garden for the David’s lecture. David, at the beginning, capped his lectures with a philosophy acquired in Dr. Bruce Stenning’s class.

During the 2 hours, David unfolded his understandings about Philip Kotler’s Principle of Marketing and other marketing concepts, he also shared his first-hand experience on creation and management and strategy and execution.
Most of the audience have experience in marketing or marketing-related functions. Reflecting to their own understanding, they also brought the event to a lively discussion after David’s sharing.
Unexpected Expansion – Exchange with Other A-list Business Schools in China
Following the success of January 30 lecture, David was also invited to present and speak in seminars organized by Chang Jiang Business School.
Dr. John Yang, the International Dean of BiMBA, with the inspiration of David’s sharing also supports this kind of exchanging activities among the students from top business schools in China.
Beyond Business - Cross Culture Collaboration by Alex Chan
After a short winter break, the Lecture Sharing Program started with Alex Chan’s “Travel from the East and the West” for the new semester. This sharing session illustrated the differences between eastern and western cultures, which may have a significant impact on the effectiveness of multi-cultural communication.
Alex Chan, currently the senior director of product strategy in Oracle Communication Global Business Unit (“CGBU”) and the founder of the Oracle CGBU China Lab. Alex started his career in the banking industry served in Hong Kong and Wall Street respectively and have had exposure to various culture in his career life.
During his a few hours’ sharing, he covered the origins of the eastern and the western cultures, including various aspects such as geography, ethnic groups, languages, religions and evolution paths.
Steps forward – More lectures and sharing to come
The key organizers of this program, Savannah Feng and Taylor Zhang, are very glad to see the achievements of the initial stage. In order to keep attracting the interests and benefit more classmates, the organizers also conducted vote among the classmates to gather topics. According the voting results, the schedule for this semester is available to be published.
