TATA Group 2011 Peking University Campus Talk

Tata, a respectable Indian enterprise with a history of 141 years, paid a visit to National School of Development (NSD) / BiMBA on May 12th, 2011, and for the first time presented its talent recruiting program, Tata China Management Program (TCMP), to China’s top-ranking business school.

 

Bearing the critical responsibilities of conveying core management talents to Tata Group’s main business units in Chinese market, TCMP won top priority from Indian headquarters and China’s top management team. Therefore, Mr. Hongyu Zhan, Managing Director of Tata China, Mr. Radhakrishnan Nair, Vice President of Talent Acquisition Group, Mr. Frank Li, Deputy General Manager of Tata China, and HR executives from Tata Steel, Tata Consultancy Service and Jaguar Land Rover, all gathered at the career talk and presented to the brilliant MBA students the Tata’s history, development,

 

internationalization orientation, rapid development in China, and commitment to future Chinese market. In addition, the three business groups individually introduced the development of their units and their expectation for talents.

 

According to their introduction, TCMP is different from regular recruitment programs in Tata. In the first year of TCMP, MBA graduates will take part in four programs located at four different enterprises in different countries under Tata Group. After that, they will be assigned to managerial positions at Tata Steel, Tata Consultancy Service, or Jaguar Land Rover in China. Ever since Tata Group developed a cooperation relationship with NSD/BiMBA in 2007, we have developed multi-level cooperation in seminars, internship for students and job opportunities.


Tata Group in China 
Tata group is one of the most respected business houses in India, with over 90 operating companies in seven business sectors. The total revenue of Tata Group, taken together, was $67.4 billion in FY 2009-10, with 57 per cent of this coming from outside India. Tata group employs around 395,000 people worldwide. The Tata name has been respected in India for over 140 years for its adherence to strong values and business ethics. 


Today Tata Group is making China one of its strategic priorities as it internationalizes its business. In 2010, Tata group achieved sales of USD 3.0 billion and procurement of USD 0.7 billion, with about 2,600 employees in China.
