On the EVE of Global Fashion
Jan 05-2019
Something must not be right in the Chinese garment industry, for it had never produced the richest person in China, unlike what Zara and Uniqlo had done for their founders, said Mrs. Xia Hua, Founder and Chairwoman of Beijing-based Eve Fashion Group. Insights and humors like this permeated her speech at the 3rd National Development Forum on December 15th, 2018. She founded the company in the 1990s and had made it into one of the bellwethers in the 13-trillion-yuan-worth Chinese clothing industry. In recent years, the company had focused on two major projects: One, making a platform to connect the best garment manufactories with the most influential sellers in China; Two, a project named China Craftsmanship linking more than 8,000 embroiderers – mostly ladies of minority ethnicities living in remote areas – with over 400 brands globally to jointly create unique collections. She said it’s of utmost importance to move from managing competition to managing cooperation, and to integrate Chinese creativity with global design. Surely the EVE to a colorful tomorrow.
