Yu Miaojie: Outstanding Young Scientist

NSD Professor Yu Miaojie has entered a prominent list of outstanding young scientists whose research projects will be backed by Beijing Municipal Education Commission. A total of 39 projects featured on the list announced by the Commission on January 9th. It’s part of the Commission’s Outstanding Young Scientists Plan to drive innovations and cultivate talents at institutions of higher learning in Beijing. Each shortlisted project will run for five years, and can spend up to 50% of the budget on hiring domestic and international researchers. Prof. Yu specializes in international trade and Chinese economy, and is among the top 1% most cited economists worldwide in the sphere of economy and management. He was the first Chinese economist to have won the Best Paper of the Year by the Royal Economic Society of the UK. Currently deputy dean of NSD, Prof. Yu also advises the UN, the ADB, Chinese Ministry of Finance, Chinese Ministry of Commerce and other organizations.
