Deng Yunfeng, Member of the Standing Committee of the Shandong Provincial Party Committee and Head of the United Front Work Department, attended the meeting and delivered a speech. He expressed his hope that young entrepreneurs from Beijing and Shandong would seize opportunities, collaborate closely, and engage in in-depth exchanges and pragmatic cooperation while implementing major national strategies. This would involve building a modern industrial system, leveraging the leading role of enterprises in technological innovation, cultivating new, high-quality productive forces, and expanding high-level opening-up. Together, they would write a new chapter in the history of cooperation between Beijing and Shandong.

Professor Huang Zhuo extended the School’s warmest welcome to the attending leaders, entrepreneurs, and alumni “returning home”. He recounted the development journey of Peking University’s National School of Development, introduced its diversified curriculum and unique teaching methodologies, and highlighted the outstanding achievements of its professors and researchers in macroeconomics, industrial development, and financial markets. He expressed his earnest desire to deepen multi-domain exchanges and cooperation with all those present. He expressed confidence that, through collective endeavours, more collaborative opportunities would be created and mutual benefits realized, adding fresh, powerful vitality into Beijing–Shandong cooperation.

Zhang Bing, President of the Shandong Chapter of the Peking University Alumni Association’s National School of Development Branch and Chairman of Propellent Energy Technology Co., Ltd., was the first alumnus to deliver a speech. Speaking on behalf of the Shandong alumni, he expressed his profound joy at returning home and fondly reminisced about his time at the School. He candidly remarked, “I feel fortunate to have journeyed alongside so many outstanding teachers and fellow students.” During his address, he cited the profound insight of Professor Zhou Qiren that “technological innovation requires high-concentration, high-density environments”. He emphasised that within the unique “environment” of the National School of Development, every faculty member and student is exceptional, and a powerful collective effect has been forged whereby individuals mutually inspire, support, and advance one another.

Keynote Address

Professor Zhang Weiying, Peking University’s Boya Distinguished Professor, Professor at the National School of Development, and Director of the Centre for Market and Network Economy, then delivered the keynote address, titled “The Fountainhead of Growth”. He opened with the ingenious analogy of “the relationship between income and the eggs one can afford”, explaining the contemporary essence and responsibilities of the entrepreneurial spirit in accessible terms. He unequivocally stated that entrepreneurs are the core driving force of economic growth and that the essence of the entrepreneurial spirit lies in human creativity. He urged young entrepreneurs to inherit and promote the entrepreneurial spirit by drawing wisdom from deep study and reflection, honing their skills through hands-on practice, and injecting vigorous momentum into advancing Chinese modernisation through innovative vitality.

Roundtable Forum

The theme of the forum was “New-Quality Productivity and the New Generation of Entrepreneurs”. Five distinguished guests engaged in an in-depth dialogue, collectively exploring the innovative potential and developmental pathways for young entrepreneurs in the context of new-quality productivity. The session featured frequent audience interaction and sustained applause, receiving an overwhelmingly positive response.
