NBER-CCER Conference

The National Bureau of Economic Research of the USA and the National School of Development at PKU (NSD, formerly CCER successfully held a conference themed China and The World Economy on May 23-24. The conference consisted of seven topical forums participated by 25 Chinese and foreign experts and scholars.

 

In his welcome speech, NSD Dean and Prof. Yao Yang commended the NBER-CCER Conference – having been held for many years – as an outstanding academic tradition that played a significant role in facilitating communication and exchanges between Chinese and American scholars. He made a speech entitled Re-balancing of the Chinese Economy by analyzing investment, infrastructure, income distribution and macro-economy.

 

Prof. James Poterba, Chair of NBER, spoke on the US economy by delving into unemployment figures, labor participation, GPD growth rate, among others.

 

The topical forums were: Domestic and International Investment, Political Economics, Finance and Development, Public Finance, International Capital Movement, Healthcare and Social Capital, and Policy and Trade. The latest, and sometimes groundbreaking, researches were presented.
