NSD Commencement: Song of Youth

Jul 09-2019

The PKU Centennial Hall witnessed the 2019 commencement of NSD and the Institute of South-South Cooperation and Development on June 29th.

NSD is proud to deliver 909 graduates this year, including 110 MBA and 66 EMBA graduates from its BiMBA Business School, while ISSCD sees off 42.

Prof. Yao Yang, NSD Dean, urged the graduates to carry on PKU's much-cherished independent thinking and find the Don Quixote in themselves, so as to confront some bleak realities and fight for a better world. He said that PKU plays an unrivaled role in China's modernization drive – more than any other international university in that of its own country, and the graduates ought to sing their Song of Youth and be committed to the betterment of China, just like many generations of graduates before them.

Initiated by Chinese President Xi Jiping in 2015, ISSCD has become a high-end platform for educating talents from developing countries and over the last three years has counted students from more than 50 countries. Prof. Justine Lin Yifu, ISSCD Dean, said that the commencement is a milestone in the graduates' life and reminded them to keep learning and contribute to the development of their respective countries. The ultimate goal, he said, is to build prosperity for everyone.
