Track II Right on Track
Jul 30-2019
The China-US Economy Track II Dialogue, co-organized by NSD (previously CCER) and the National Committee on US-China Relations (NSUCR), was held in Beijing on July 10-11 and touched on some of the hottest issues and disputes between the two countries.
The US delegation was made up of Ms. Carla Hills, former US trade representative and incumbent chairwoman of the NCUCR; Mr. Stephen Orlins, member of the US Council on Foreign Relations; Mr. Jeffrey Shafer, member of the Council of Economic Advisers; and some renowned economists.
The Chinese delegation was headed by Dr. Qin Xiao, former chairman of China Merchants Group and China Merchants Bank. Three professors from NSD: Yao Yang (NSD Dean), Huang Yiping (NSD Deputy Dean) and Lu Feng, were among the members.
The two sides exchanged views on the bilateral economic situations and weighed possible paths and solutions. They also discussed development and disputes in advanced tech areas.
The agenda included a visit to the People’s Bank of China where the delegations were hosted by PBOC Governor Mr. Yi Gang to learn more about China’s macro-control and economic trends. Another visit was paid to China Center for International Economic Exchanges.
The China-US Economic Dialogue was launched in 2010 as an biannual event alternating between Beijing and New York, with the aim of facilitating communication between the academia and business circles of the two countries and supporting inter-governmental dialogues.
