2019 MBA Student Representative Speech - Joohoon Bok

Thank you.

 

My name is Joohoon Bok and my Chinese name is 卜柱熏.

 

I'm from Korea and joined the BiMBA Vlerick part-time program this year.

 

We know today is a very special day, so first, I'd like to congratulate all of us to start an exciting journey for two years from today.

 

I'm very honored to deliver a speech as a student representative of the BiMBA Vlerick MBA today. It's tremendous to be here.

 

Thank you all again for the support and being here.

 

Actually, I've never been to Peking University, before taking the BiMBA test and have never imagined I would stand here. Thanks to BiMBA, I will be able to enjoy this beautiful Peking University campus for two years.

 

Currently, I'm working in China as an expat since last year to learn more about another market which is the biggest and fast-growing market in the world. Besides, in order to take advantage of an expat, I've been looking for various chances to improve myself not only in terms of working experience in China but also in an academic way. Therefore, I could naturally come up with MBA. And Peking University was the first one that came to my mind because it is obviously well known for the best university in China. So I have a basic trust for BiMBA and after going through the BiMBA programs, I was convinced that the curriculum of the Vlerick MBA would be appropriate for my career.

 

I've been working for more than 11years in the marketing area in several industries, even though I majored electrical engineering at the university.

 

As time goes by, I've been always thinking that I should study more to manage a business professionally and to manage people successfully. This kind of skills could be acquired by working experience but it would be more organized and methodical if academical knowledge would be based on. So I believe the Vlerick MBA would complement my background and business administration insight in career aspect.

 

Moreover, Im quite sure that my areas of life will be expanded and more fruitful by the knowledge which acquired in the class and the relationship which acquired out of the class.

 

This is how and why I went through it and being here. Truth to be told, this is a very important time in my career. This MBA means more like an investment for the time rather than just an investment of tuition.

 

I think all of us have our own value on BiMBA.

 

Somebody is considering career changes, somebody is to be a leading role at the next wave of changes, somebody is dreaming an owner of new business and somebody is dreaming even more.

 

I'm so sure that BiMBA will lead you to the new world you are expecting and dreaming.

 

Although the way to come here may vary from person to person, I think the things you hope to accomplish here would be in common. Upgrading yourself and seeking for an opportunity for the future.

 

So I strongly believe that BiMBA would be a foothold to jump up higher and would be even a turning point in your life.

 

I cannot wait to start a first-day class tomorrow!
