NSD Students in National Day Parade

Oct 02-2019

At 12:10 on October 1st, a formation made up of PKU students marched through Tian’anmen Square, chanting “Let’s Unite! Rejuvenate China!” to pay tribute to Chinese National Day.

NSD was proud to have 27 teachers and students in the parade and 7 others in volunteer work. The mass pageantry ceremony was held in Beijing to celebrate the 70th anniversary of the People’s Republic of China. For this very moment, the NSD participants had trained for 60 days. The leading role of PKU in China’s modernization drive dates back to a century ago, and today’s students have in their hands the guiding flag for the new era and have in their hearts a solemn promise to the Motherland and the people.

Some faculty members and students of the Institute of South-South Cooperation and Development were also invited to join the parade as part of a formation showing unity for the shared future of mankind. Said Haji Mrisho, a Ph.D. student, said he was honored to take part in the parade and was rocked by its grandeur. The 70th anniversary is a landmark event for China, he said, and it makes one proud to see that the living standard of the Chinese people has reached fairly high level and China has become ever more powerful.
