Eye-Doctors in Longjiang County
Oct 06-2019
Prof. Chen Chunhua, Dean of BiMBA, visited Longjiang County in northern Qiqihar City, Heilongjiang Province on September 30th with two missions: One, help some patients regain eyesight through free operations by a charity group made up of ophthalmologists from Shanghai; Two, give a lecture to local officials and business leaders to inspire new ways for local economic development.
The charity group was founded by some of BiMBA’s EMBA and MBA alumni and draws on the expertise of eye-doctors in Shanghai to provide free diagnosis and operations for cataract patients in poor and underprivileged areas of China.
Prof. Chen and the ophthalmologists visited some patients recovering from operations. She highly commended the lofty efforts of the charity group in its over-a-decade existence and praised its growing influence and vitality gained through collaboration and sustainable development.
After completing medical checks and operations, the team moved onto the second major activity: NSD Lecture for Public Good, an initiative to enlighten the public and reduce poverty through knowledge input.
In her lecture titled Symbiosis and Growth, Prof. Chen said that Heilongjiang Province’s natural resources don’t necessarily mean competitiveness unless catching up with the upgrading tempo of the current era. She expounded on the not-to-be-missed changes such as digitalization-based innovation models and advised the region to redefine industrial logics, follow technological evolution, facilitate strategic collaboration and empowerment, and make the best use of ‘now’ for the ‘future’.
