MBA Students Visit H3C
Dec 29-2020
To learn more about digital solutions, a group of MBA students and teachers paid a visit to the headquarters of H3C, a leader in the field. The activity is part of the NSD’s corporate classroom for MBA students which helps bridge in- and out-of-classroom knowledge and practice.
Part of Tsinghua Unigroup, H3C provides scenario-based solutions for a wide variety of clients, including telecom operators, governments, and finance, among others, and has a presence in 100 or so countries and regions. It has a portfolio of more than 10,000 patents, of which 90% are for inventions.
Mr. Qin Le, head of strategic planning in the President’s Office of H3C and a BiMBA alumnus, gave a comprehensive presentation on the company. He said that according to China Digital Economy White Paper released at the beginning of this year, the value-added scale of the digital economy had reached 35.8 trillion yuan and amounted to over one-third of China’s GDP. He then zoomed in on corporate applications and practices in digital transformation.
H3C has over 13,000 employees, with half in R&D. Every year the company ploughs in 14% of its revenue in R&D and in 2019 it unveiled the Digital Mastermind Plan to extend its solution coverage to 100 industries. It’s also behind some high-flying projects such as the 2008 Beijing Olympics, the 2010 Shanghai Expo, as well as the building of hospitals in Wuhan during the Covid-19 lockdown.
Mr. Qin elaborated on some practical applications such as a cloud-based call center, an R&D platform for five centers in two locations, big data analysis for production and purchasing, and an integrated service turnkey platform. He said H3C has entered a new stage with a focus on business change and innovation.
The visit helps the students to look into the core values of digital transformation for a wide range of industries and shows how the corporate classroom contributes to the unique MBA experience at the NSD. More to expect and experience!
