NSD Ranks High among Global Think-Tanks

The NSD comes at No.15 among the world’s 100 elite think-tanks and No.12 in the economics sphere, according to the annual ranking by a research team with Zhejiang University. This marks an unprecedented breakthrough for the NSD to rise into Top 20 globally.

 

Besides the NSD, only two more Chinese think-tanks make it into Top 20, namely the Development Research Center of the State Council (at No.3) and Chinese Academy of Engineering (at No.19). Brookings Institution of the US takes the crown of the list.

 

Among China’s think-tanks, the NSD is second only to the DRC and leads the pack of university-affiliated ones.

 

The ranking, now in fifth edition, was conducted by a think-tank research team jointly set up in 2016 by the Center for Information Resources Analysis and Application at Zhejiang University and Chinese Academy of Engineering. The current version saw the number of think-tanks under evaluation expanding from 388 in 2020 to 403 in 2021.
