CEAC: From Economic Success to Erection of Economics System
May 16-2023
On March 13, the 22nd China Economic Annual Conference (CEAC) opened at South China University of Technology. Prof. Yao Yang, Dean of both NSD and BiMBA, delivered a speech. He is also Director General of both CEAC and National Economics Foundation.
Nearly 1,000 scholars and students attended the conference, alongside representatives of 28 CEAC member institutions, persons in charge from over 40 universities and scientific institutes, authors of selected papers, and representatives of over 10 academic journals. The conference focused on the developmental reality of the Chinese economy and the frontiers of economics, while facilitating academic exchanges and sharing of educational experiences, with the overall aim of providing theoretical support for the development and reform of the Chinese economy.
In his speech, Prof. Yao pointed out that China’s immense economic accomplishment over its 45-year reform and opening up offers real-life materials for economic research. As China now stands at a crossroads in its development path, he calls on Chinese economists to sum up past economic achievements, select suitable economics topics, work to form a new wave of economics research, and strive to build China’s own knowledge system. In this way, exploration can be made to extend economic success to the erection of an economics system.
The conference lasted for two days and hosted 85 sessions of paper discussions and many more activities.
