CCER Symposium Features a Symphony of High-Impact Research and Discussions

The 7th CCER Summer International Symposium, organized by PKU China Center for Economic Research and the National School of Development from June 10 to 12, was attended by about 200 scholars from world-renowned domestic and international institutions of higher learning, including Harvard University, Stanford University, The University of Chicago, Peking University, Tsinghua University, and The University of Hong Kong.
Prof. Lei Xiaoyan of the NSD gave the opening speech and Prof. Yao Yang spoke at the welcome banquet wishing a resounding success of the event.
The scholarly gathering consisted of keynote speeches and thematic discussions. The nine keynote speeches were delivered by the following reputed experts: Prof. Zhiqi Chen of Carleton University, Canada; Prof. Richard Freeman of Harvard University; Prof. Christopher K. Hsee of the University of Chicago; Prof. Toru Kitagawa of Brown University; Prof. Alberto Rossi of Georgetown University; Prof. Scott Rozelle of Stanford University; Prof. Kjetil Storesletten of the University of Minnesota; and Prof. Eric van Wincoop of the University of Virginia. On the strength of their respective research, they provided answers to a series of important economic questions.
The thematic discussing sessions spanned a wide array of fields, including labor and health economics, development and political economics, micro theories and industrial organization, financial economics, econometrics, public and environmental economics, and international economics and trade. During the sessions, well-known scholars presented their latest research, which sparked heated discussions among the participants.
The three-day event offered a scholarly feast to the participants thanks to the attendance of heavyweight scholars, the significance of keynote speech topics and papers for economic research, and the myriad inspirations generated by discussions.
