Prof. Justin Yifu Lin Presented with Schumpeter-Haberler Distinguished Fellow Award by IEA

The International Economic Association has unveiled the voting results for 2023 Schumpeter-Haberler Distinguished Fellow Award, with Prof. Justin Yifu Lin being one of the winners in recognition of his outstanding contribution to economics. Prof. Lin is Dean of PKU Institute of New Structural Economics and Honorary Dean of the National School of Development.

The IEA was founded in 1950 under the aegis of the United Nations Educational, Scientific, and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) and has as members national economic associations around the world. It instituted the Schumpeter-Haberler Distinguished Award and IEA Fellow Award in 2018 as its highest honors for economists. The former is accorded once every three years to up to six economists who have made significant contribution to economics, especially in the area of international economic development, and who have an outstanding record of research and some influence on policymaking.

The award will be presented at the IEA’s 20th World Congress in mid-December, 2023. Prof. Lin is the first Chinese economist to attain the award. He was also the first Chinese economist to become a member of the World Academy of Sciences in 2005 and Foreign Fellow of the British Academy in 2010.
