NSD Professors Score High in NNSF Appraisal

The Management Science Department of the National Natural Science Foundation of China (NNSF) released the assessment results of completed projects on January 29, 2024. The NNSF projects undertaken separately by Liu Guoen, Li Lixing, and Hu Ju of NSD were all accorded the ‘Excellent’ mark.

 

Prof. Liu Guoen’s NNSF project was: Chinese Hospitals Management Intervention Experiment based on World Management Survey (WMS) (grant number: 71773002).

 

That of Prof. Li Lixing was: Hierarchy, Group Holdings, and SEO Efficiency: Information- and Network-based Perspectives (grant number: 71773004)

 

And that of Associate Prof. Hu Ju: Consumer Search and Optimal Informational Design (grant number: 71803004).

 

The assessment is aimed at promoting high-quality and responsible science research work. The results, based on appraisal meetings and peer reviews, are linked to follow-up grants.

 

Introduction of the three professors:

 

Liu Guoen is Dean of PKU Institute for Global Health and Development, NSD professor, Director of PKU China Center for Health Economic Research, member of the National Healthcare Reform Advisory Committee of the State Council, member of Chinese Academy of Medical Sciences, and Deputy Editor-in-Chief of Health Economics. Previously Prof. Liu worked for the University of South Carolina, the University of North Carolina (tenured), and PKU Guanghua School of Management, and was chairman of the Chinese Economists Society and first president of the Asia-Pacific Federation of International Society for Pharmacoeconomics and Outcomes Research).

 

Li Lixing is PKU Bo Ya Young Scholar, NSD Professor of Economics, Director of PKU China Center for Public Finance, and Managing Editor of China Economic Quarterly International. He has been awarded for excellent research by the Ministry of Education’s humanities and social sciences program, and presented Outstanding Young Scholar and Outstanding Teaching by Peking University. He was also named the Ministry of Education’s Changjiang Young Scholar.

 

Hu Ju is NSD Associate Professor of Economics and Deputy Editor-in-Chief of China Economic Quarterly (Chinese). He received doctoral degree in Economics from the University of Pennsylvania in 2016, and focuses his research on micro-economic theory, game theory, and information economics. His research papers have been published by top journals such as Journal of Economic Theory and The Rand Journal of Economics. He teaches Intermediate Micro-Economics to undergraduates and Advanced Micro-Economics II to graduate students.
