Prof. Zhang Weiying’s Book Bestseller on Amazon

On May 2, 2024, Prof. Zhang Weiying’s book Re-Understanding Entrepreneurship: What It Is and Why It Matters was published by Cambridge University Press. This English edition was based on revisions to the Chinese one.

 

By May 10, the book was the top bestseller in ‘Business Entrepreneurship’ category on Amazon, and No.4 in ‘Economics’.

 

Prof. Chen Xiaoping of Foster School of Business, the University of Washington, said that the book reflects Prof. Zhang’s profound and critical thoughts on China’s economic miracle over the last 40 years, and underlines the importance of the role and creativity of entrepreneurs in the face of multitudinous uncertainties and obstacles.

 

Meir G. Kohn, Professor of Economics with Dartmouth College, commented that Prof. Zhang’s book highly increases our understanding of entrepreneurial spirit and its important role in economic development.

 

Rainer Zitelmann, historian, sociologist, entrepreneur and author of In Defense of Capitalism, said that Prof. Zhang Weiying is one of the most important economists today. He highly agreed with Prof. Zhang’s view that economic prosperity mainly owes to entrepreneurship.

 

The Chinese edition of the book was published by Hainan Publishing House and Imaginist in June 2022 and carries the latest research results of Prof. Zhang on entrepreneurialship. It focuses on four major questions: How do entrepreneurs make decisions in the real world? Why isn’t there a place for entrepreneurs in mainstream economics? What do entrepreneurs do? And what kind of institutional ecosystem is most conducive to getting entrepreneurship into play? Centered on these questions, the book comprises four sections spreading out in 16 chapters.
