Digital Transformation Trends and Practices in Healthcare

Dec 12-2024

The healthcare industry is currently undergoing profound changes and digital transformation is imminent. To help industry players understand the latest trends and explore feasible transformation paths, the PKU NSD Healthcare Industry Association organised a forum.

Keynote Speech

Zhang Sen, Managing Consulting Partner of Deloitte China, pointed out that the economic growth rate of the healthcare industry is higher than that of the GDP, and there is huge potential for future development. At the same time, the healthcare industry is transforming from traditional medical treatment to digitalization and intelligence, with more emphasis on prevention. This process involves multiple stakeholders, adding to the complexity of the industry's development. Mr. Zhang Sen used Microsoft and biopharmaceutical companies as examples to show how digital transformation is being applied in different companies.

Roundtable Forum

First, Gao Mingxu, Vice President of BioRay and the President of PKU NSD Healthcare Industry Association, shared his views on digital transformation in the biopharmaceutical sector. According to him, information technology infrastructure is the most critical area of concern and investment in the digital transformation process of the biopharmaceutical industry, which is essential for improving the overall operational efficiency of companies and enhancing market competitiveness. At the same time, he also talked about the crucial role of AI and machine learning in new drug R&D, clinical trials and production, and expressed his expectations for the precision medicine model, as well as the technology of deep integration of AI and drug R&D, and drug efficacy prediction technology.

He Mingke, former Vice President of Baidu, believes that the collection, analysis and application of data play a crucial role in driving innovation and growth in industries such as new drug R&D, but at the same time, pharmaceutical companies face many dilemmas in the process of digital transformation. Using the example of a biopharmaceutical company that collects physician information for marketing purposes to illustrate how data can be used effectively, he stressed that companies need to establish a rigorous data management system and explore the value of data in a legal and compliant manner. At the same time, he believes that AI technology will deeply reshape the ecology of the big healthcare industry, and the front-end of medical services, such as intelligent diagnosis and telemedicine, will be the first to benefit from the application of these technologies.

Zhang Sen, as a management consulting partner of Deloitte China, shared his views on the challenges and responses to enterprise digital transformation. He believes that the key strategies to be adopted in supporting enterprise digital transformation are to take a concerted approach in promoting innovation in digital intelligence, reinventing business models, reducing costs and improving efficiency, preventing and controlling risks, and mining data value, and emphasized the core driving force of the data element in enterprise digital transformation.

Zou Xiaoliang, Founder/CEO of WEIMING PENGUIN and Vice President of PKU NSD Healthcare Industry Association, shared the cases of WEIMING PENGUIN's service to the sales team of enterprise customers. For example, by integrating the data collection channel into the commonly used office software, it greatly improves the efficiency of data collection, and by virtue of the accurate data service, it helps enterprises gain insights into the potential market demand and optimize the sales strategy to realize the growth of their business. In the face of future technological changes, he believes that companies should actively embrace new technologies, focus on customer needs and continue to innovate products and services, increase investment in research and development, while paying close attention to changes in industry policies and regulations to ensure compliance, and anticipate emerging technology areas to gain competitive advantage.

In the future, the healthcare industry will continue to innovate and change in the wave of digitalization, and all of us should actively cooperate to promote the sustainable development of the industry.
