Exploring the New Energy Vehicle Industry
Dec 24-2024
With the theme of "Exploring the Future Trend of New Energy Vehicle Industry", this event invited a number of guests from Automotive Industry Association to discuss the latest trend of new energy vehicle industry as well as the current challenges and opportunities with the students of PKU NSD.
First of all, three doctoral students from National School of Development delivered wonderful academic reports on different areas of the new energy vehicle industry. Starting from the innovation and market adaptability of small enterprises in the new energy vehicle industry, Zhang Yushuai discussed how small enterprises can inject vitality into the industry through flexible decision-making and innovation drive. Liu Xiangmeng then analyzed the impact of the implementation of the local government's car consumption subsidy policy during the epidemic, which effectively promoted the sales of new energy vehicles despite the limited subsidy. Zhai Xiayu studied the brand communication strategy of new energy automobile enterprises from the perspective of social media marketing, pointing out that the marketing strategy of new energy automobile enterprises on social platforms has shifted from product function orientation to brand culture formation.
Next, three senior industry experts shared their opinions. Liu Hui pointed out that as the largest single market in the world, China is facing unprecedented opportunities and challenges for the new energy vehicle industry. He emphasized that new energy vehicles represent not only the era of new energy, but also the inevitable trend of intelligent transformation. Wu Shaoge, on the other hand, started from the development path of China's automobile industry and explained the process of intelligent transformation from Ford assembly line production to Japanese lean production mode and then to Chinese brands. In particular, she mentioned that although the market competition is getting fiercer, small brands still have the opportunity to stand out in the market segments as long as they can accurately grasp the changes in consumer demand. Song Xin believes that the innovation and R&D capabilities of small enterprises in the industry chain are crucial, and policies should give them more support.
Discussion Session
For the survival and development of small companies in the new energy industry, Liu Hui suggested that small companies should strengthen intelligent transformation and find new development space with differentiated market positioning. Wu Shaoge stressed that the government should provide more financing, technical support and policy guidance to small companies to help them overcome difficulties in capital and market access.
Regarding the new energy subsidy policy, Liu Hui believes that the current subsidy policy is more biased towards large companies, and the subsidy allocation mechanism should be optimized to support the survival and development of small companies. Wu Shaoge mentioned that the government should help small companies adapt to market changes and continue to innovate through progressive exit mechanisms and innovative support policies. Song Xin, on the other hand, urged the government to strengthen its support for small companies to ensure that they can survive the fierce market competition.
On the issue of recalls of new energy vehicles, Liu Hui pointed out that while recalls may have a short-term negative impact on brand image, they also provide companies with an opportunity to communicate with consumers, which can be turned into positive factors through public relations. Song Xin pointed out that despite some companies' quality problems, sales are still growing, which shows that consumers are more tolerant of brands, but the industry as a whole should also pay attention to quality improvement.
Regarding new energy vehicles going overseas, all three guests agreed that China's new energy vehicles are gradually gaining recognition in the global market, especially in Europe and Southeast Asia. The competitiveness of Chinese new energy vehicles is not only reflected in the price, but also in the advantages of intelligent technology. Internet companies, with their advantages in technology and data, have accelerated the transformation of traditional automobile manufacturers and played an important role in the process of new energy vehicles going overseas, especially in technological innovation and strategic layout, which has pushed forward the globalization process of Chinese new energy vehicles.
